   As a natural red head with lighter hair I’m curious about these house labs eyebrow pencils. Your excitement for the red head pencils is much appreciated however I will note that for me pencils designed for redheads like these are usually way too dark and end up looking pumpkin orange or even purple on many of us. All we need is a blonde pencil with a warm undertone! That’s all! A warm blonde pencil that is actually warm! Not ashy. I would still be curious to try these but I feel like it would be the same issue I have with most brands where I end up have to mix 2-3 different shades to make it look right at which point I might as well just use eyeshadow!

   I actually like the idea of the Shape Tape cream with the original concealer because I won't be able to use the new creamy formula as an under eye concealer, but I can use under eye cream over night and on makeup-free days and use the original concealer as my under eye concealer. Now, if only I could afford makeup…. 😭😅 been a rough year.

   That bare minerals “day in the sun” nonsense will just make everyone look like me, a person who is mildly allergic to strong sunlight and breaks out in a rash if I spend too much time in strong direct sun (even with good spf coverage!)

   That colourpop cheek dew looks like lip gloss. The swatches look like goopy, wet lip gloss. People may like it on a minimal makeup face but I’m not sure about putting it over powder and foundation.
   ETA I’m not a fan of the elf/chipotle collab either. I applaud them for the great execution of it but it doesn’t interest me at all.

   Yeah, the amount of people who don’t know Kat is not affiliated with the brand now is crazy and they should have changed the name BUT… I disagree about their aesthetic. People love it. I love it. People still wanted it, they just didn’t want to buy from her. It’s not old and I don’t think the point of them buying out her brand was to change the aesthetic. They bought an established brand for a reason. I’m not going to blame them too much for not completely overhauling everything. Im sure they’ve done focus groups to help decide which direction they should go with it all.

    💦🕑👵I did not expect to be interested in this Hindash release, it is so not my vibe but as a MUA I really love the idea and versatility!

    I'm pretty happy with the KVD rebrand. I liked what KVD was doing before, the tattoo inspiration and the aesthetic of the brand, etc. I just fucking hated Kat Von D. And then the quality of the new releases conveniently nose-dived so the boycott was easy. Having worked in the corporate world there are only 2 real motives to buy out a company: to absorb them under the umbrella of your existing brand / use the brand's existing resources to build a completely new brand (something that serves Kendo no purpose), OR to obtain control of the brand while retaining (and growing) its existing rapport and following. Why would you wate your time buying out KVD just to completely change the name, the brand image, and all the products? Kendo doesn't need to do that, they could just make another brand. What they wanted was THIS brand and its existing fan base and consumer familiarity. If they change the name they lose that. The purpose of the buyout was to continue Kat Von D Beauty minus Kat, because she was killing the brand with bad PR. I think they tried to figure out what the demographic of the brand was and leaned fully into the vegan thing, only to realize that A. They're buffoons who can't come up with an acronym to save their lives. And B. That wasn't the core essence of the brand and wasn't bringing the old fans back. So they fixed it. Kat's out and we have something that at least vaguely embodies some of the elements former fans of the brand were drawn to. The Latin doesn't translate but I can still dig it.

    Also, them keeping "KVD" at all makes me not want to support the brand still… in my mind it's still Kat Von D. They honestly just need to give up on this whole brand. Kat Von D destroyed it and it's never going to recover. Never.

    I could not agree more with the thoughts about the IWD pallet. Everything about it screams cash grab. If they chose shades that didn't have a "cohesive color story" but reflected the women represented, it would have been better.

    So the Hindash palette isn't for me, but I can appreciate his thoughts and reasoning behind it. It's pretty clear he put thought into it rather than just a cash grab palette. I hate the name though. Beautopsy? Like autopsy or biopsy? Not really the best imagery for a makeup product. Would have been better to really lean into his painting background with the name.

    As a woo-woo person I feel horrified by these brands using crystals in their products?? If I understand it correctly, and they actually grind up crystals as an ingredient, that is NOT the way to treat any precious stone, that is crystal genocide.

    I am following the Hidash brand now. I don't know him, but I have th Linda Hallberg multifunctional pallettes and they are the ones I use the most, even though I am far from being a makeup artist, I found my routine on it and it's awesome to have so much in one place. I am so attracted by the gradients as well!

    KVD's rebrand is like a person who got tattoo with his/her ex's initials and now want to get a new gf/bf with the same initials so it fits the tattoo.

    Anyway! The Coach Rexy thing is not new. They have that T-rex for a few years, and it's quite cute. Kinda excited about it.

    – "I AM A WOMAN" therefore, this palette can only have nudes, pinks, and purples. None of those masculine darks or blues/ greens here! No sir! 😂

    – Also, those liquid lips for Maybelline's Sailor Moon collection are NOT IT. Like…why would you assign Mercury a red lip? When does she ever have any kind of red on her – clothing, makeup, or otherwise?? It's so lazy 🙄

    Speaking of KVD beauty… where has Kat Von D been during the pandemic? She's been awfully quiet. Either her head is exploding at the thought of the whole world wanting the vaccine and vaccine passports, or she's a huge hypocrite and already had the vaccine months ago to protect HERSELF, fuck everyone else. Both situations are totally believable to me.
