An AIIMS Bibinagar study found that nearly one in three rural Telangana students who use smartphones met the criteria for smartphone addiction. While it was not linked to poorer academic performance, smartphone addiction was strongly associated with poor sleep. Boys, personal smartphone owners and early users faced higher odds.

India has given the initial go-ahead for defence procurement proposals worth a massive ₹1.1 lakh crore. The Defence Acquisition Council, led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has granted Acceptance of Necessity for major military purchases for the Army, Navy and Air Force. In a major boost to Atmanirbhar Bharat, 98% of the procurement value will be sourced from Indian domestic industry under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category. The move marks another major push towards strengthening India’s indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem.

A rare visitor from beyond our Solar System has been captured on camera. China’s Tianwen-1 orbiter has photographed the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS as it sped past Mars, offering scientists one of the closest views yet of the mysterious object.
The images reveal the comet’s glowing coma and trailing tail, strengthening evidence that 3I/ATLAS contains water and volatile materials formed around another star system. Captured from nearly 30 million kilometers away, the observation marks a major achievement for Tianwen-1 and provides valuable insights into objects that originate beyond our cosmic neighborhood.
