Two workers have been rescued alive from a hydropower tunnel in Nepal, nine days after devastating floods buried the project under debris.

The workers, identified as Kabir Maharjan and Sanjay Shah, were pulled from the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project in Trishuli. Both reportedly suffered injuries to their arms and legs after surviving inside the tunnel.

The dramatic rescue has raised fresh hopes for hundreds of others still believed to be trapped. Local authorities say around 900 workers are missing from 12 hydropower projects, with roughly 500 believed to be inside tunnels.

A whole hillside gives way in seconds, and the people watching from a distance can only scream. That’s the video coming out of Nepal, where a huge landslide has slammed into the swollen Kali Gandaki River after days of heavy rain. Across the country, floods and landslides have killed at least 24 people, and 14 are still missing. Homes, roads, bridges and hydropower projects have been damaged. It comes less than a month after the flash floods of August 26. Watch the footage and see what we know so far.

#Gravitas The debate over the origins of COVID-19 has taken a new turn after a former senior adviser to Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted to helping conceal U.S. federal records linked to coronavirus research. The development is reigniting questions about transparency, record-keeping, and what information was available during investigations into the pandemic’s origins. The case is likely to intensify scrutiny of key figures and institutions involved in COVID-era decision-making.
