A devastating train collision in Buggenhout, Belgium has killed four people, including children, after a school minibus was struck at a level crossing. The vehicle, carrying students and staff, was hit by a train travelling at high speed, causing a violent impact and severe destruction at the scene.

Authorities say the crossing barriers were reportedly down at the time, but the minibus still entered the track moments before the collision. Several children remain in critical condition as investigations continue into how the fatal accident occurred. European leaders have expressed condolences as Belgium grapples with one of its worst recent transport tragedies.
