India has sharply criticised Pakistan at the United Nations, citing reported Pakistani strikes on Afghanistan during the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking at the UN, India’s Permanent Representative Parvathaneni Harish rejected what he described as Pakistan’s “fabricated and imaginative tales of Islamophobia” against India.
Harish warned about the growing danger of weaponising religious identity by both state and non-state actors for political agendas. He also pointed to violence and persecution in India’s western neighbourhood while highlighting Islamabad’s actions beyond its borders.
The remarks came as tensions continue to rise across South Asia and the wider region, with the Afghanistan strike becoming a major diplomatic flashpoint.

US President Donald Trump has announced that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will step down from her role, with Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin nominated to lead the Department of Homeland Security.

According to the announcement, Mullin is set to assume the position effective March 31, 2026. Kristi Noem will instead serve as the “Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas.”

During her tenure, Noem oversaw key elements of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown and border enforcement policies. The leadership change comes as the administration continues to focus on immigration and national security priorities.
