Gravitas: 50 million homes are empty in China
China is demolishing apartments and pausing construction of buildings that can house as many as 75 million people. According to one estimate – at least 50 million homes in China remain unoccupied. Molly Gambhir tells you more.

DELHI BUILDING COLLAPSE: A five-storey building housing a boys’ PG collapsed in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area on Sunday afternoon, killing at least three people and trapping several others under the debris. Rescue teams from the NDRF, Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Service and other agencies are continuing operations at the site. Eleven people have been rescued so far, according to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The building, reportedly known as Hostel Daze, collapsed at around 1:30 pm. Preliminary reports indicate that repair or construction work was underway in the basement when the structure came down. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
The collapse occurred in the densely populated Satya Niketan area near Delhi University’s South Campus, where several student accommodations and eateries are located. Rescue personnel are working through the rubble to locate anyone still trapped.

It happened as developers in China , take 40% down-payment from the buyers , even before one brick is laid and money is transferred from escrow account to other projects.
Thanks to rera, home buyers are much safe in India.
Payments are released as developer progress and money is deposited in escrow account, which is used for that project only.
