   But our country has never been a democracy, in fact it is never mentioned once in the constitution, in fact it says this: "Article IV, Section 4: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

   Both parties are extremely right wing. To label the Democratic Party is to ignore both parties long history of voting against the working class people of America. Sure the Democratic Party is different in respect to some laws surrounding social equality. But that’s it. Both parties are pro corporate and serve big money interests . And the mainstream media such as Fox News who is owned by the elite and super wealthy billionaire Rupert Murdoch knows this and that’s why they don’t talk to policy. America used to be the envy of the world but now it’s a land of privatisation, environmental ruin and fear mongering. In a country where almost all of the average citizens taxpayer money goes to the military, instead of using that money to fund public healthcare and pharmaceutical bargaining because make no mistake health care premiums are a tax on healthcare they enable health insurance companies to play god, they allow agricultural companies to wage war against American farmers by patenting seeds , they lobby for the deregulation of the banking system after the GFC. Just look at the voting records. Sadly the American people are too busy working 2 or 3 jobs to have the time to really understand how they are being manipulated into fighting amongst themselves by rich media organisations, who has the time to comb through voting records or pick apart media narratives? that FOX or CNN spews. And make no mistake people like Sean Hannity are very intentionally doing what they do, highly intelligent and carefully selected, they have the ability to inform people and speak truth to power but they are not paid to do that , they are paid to deceive and lie to the American People, he despises his audience – it’s the oldest trick in the book.

Trump acted with the specific intent to disrupt the Electoral College certification of President Biden’s electoral victory through unlawful means; specifically, by using unlawful force and violence."
    
    That's what we call an insurrection conviction in a Federal court.
    
    My personal favorite highlight from the trial was when Trump's pathetic counsel tried to argue that section 3 didn't appy to the President.
    
    Professor Gerrard Magliocca whipped out a transcript of the Congressional debates over the 14th.
    
    In it was an exchange between Senators Morrill and Johnson over Section 3, where Morrell explained to Johnson that the Presidency was covered by “officer of the United States”.
    
    Congress were noted seperately because they aren't officers, they are equal members of a body.
    
    Talk about a bitchslap!
    
    The authors themselves acknowledging that section 3 DOES apply to the President!
    
    Doesn't get any more settled than that.
    
    Your cult leader is Constitutionally barred from ever holding public office again.
    
    Now of course SCOTUS can overturn his conviction.
    
    But not before November.
    
    As they ruled on the immunity claim, they can't take jurisdiction of the case until all the appeals are exausted in lower court.
    
    And Trump hasn't even filed in appellate court.

This will go down as probably the biggest American Embarrassment in history and democracy will be dead if Donald Trump is not imprisoned as many of the January 6 rioters have been jailed following their leader's insane advice.

    You could possibly make a case for granting statehood to Puerto Rico. Other territories of the United States have been granted statehood. There is a faction in Puerto Rico which wants statehood but there is another faction who wants independence. It's a legitimate issue. However, the concept of granting "statehood to DC" should be a dead letter. The very point of the creation of the District of Columbia, the reason it exists at all, was to place the Capitol of the United States in a region which was NOT a State. Up until the establishment of DC, the capitol of the US was located in the State of New York…and the other states didn't like that. It gave overwhelming power to an individual state which could "control" the national capitol. If you make DC a "state" you've just eliminated the entire reason the District was created in the first place. The argument is made that DC should become a state because the residents there have no "representation" in Congress. There is an easier fix for this. Abolish the District of Columbia and give it back to the State of Maryland. (The District was initially established on lands from the states of Maryland and Virginia, but Virginia ceded their land after the Civil War.) There…fixed…people living in DC today become citizens of Maryland…representation granted. Maryland might actually get more Congressmen…but no extra Senators.
