So when the banks get bailed out by the government you are responsible for their debt. Whatever!! That is okay but helping the middle class is a bad thing.

There needs to be a meeting in the middle…. if the students that get loans show completion and GPA 2.7 or higher should get "interest free" loans …. the government, universities and bankers, make over $1.5 BILLION per year on interest… let's give students that show effort and completion a break. They pay back the loan w/o interest. Instead the usa will spend BILLIONS on war in a blink of an eye…. and corporate greed is the biggest gift the government gives … at taxpayers expense

I'm not responsible for bailing out banks that I never used. I'm also not responsible for picking up the tax tab for corporations that pay none at all. But I guess those don't matter as they donate to politicians.

As long as they are against bankruptcy filings or corporate bailouts…but that never seems to be mentioned in their "being financially responsible" rants. Very inconsistent.

We won't stop the insane price gouging on medications, we won't feed a hungry child a lunch at school if his parents can't pay for it but we will forgive student debt while our veterans are homeless… It's all backwards for politicians and what they pass is what will help their own, not the majority

It's cash forr Wokes, not cash for votes (well maybe votes, too). It bails out the higher educational institutions that fill their classes with woke Professors, toting liberal ideology and rhetoric. They teach their “followers”/students to hate anything GOP/Trump related, even their fellow students and little remaining conservative professors. Students are admitted with little to no abilities, take loans because they think (and the general public does comply with this thinking) that holding a BA is just the start if you want a “thinking” job. So they get swindled into this lemon education and come out owing. Meanwhile these academic institutions keep adding new courses and new degree programs and sucking more naive youths into this ongoing mess of an educational system. Make no mistake, this bailout is for all these woke, liberally-dominated higher educational institution to indoctrinate the masses, not to rescue students from debt!

"I am not responsible for paying off your student loan debt." You are if 2/3 of the country say you are. Power politics Republicans! How does it feel?
Bottomline, student debt relief spurs economic growth as well as helping a substantial portion of fellow American citizens to thrive. It also supports a beneficial trend – the benefits of a higher education baked into the American dream without the deleterious effects of soul crushing debt.
Why can't Americans have good things like the rest of Western Civilization? Republicans is why. Even though they will share in the economic and psychological benefits, too, they are stuck in this stultifying mindset.
For those of us complaining about having paid off their student debt on their own, I will remind you that we live in the present, not the past. The present can lead to a more prosperous, thriving future for all. Going forward, this is about the economic and psychological health of an entire nation.

Joe Biden is a genius. Here is why it makes sense to erase some college debt. Hopefully fox won't delete my comment again. While they can do that without violating the first amendment, I would think that as a news organization they would see how censorship is not a good thing. But back to college debt. First of all, erasing college debt for families enables them to qualify for better home loans. Interest rates have gone up lately and this move will stimulate the economy without lowering interest rates. This is critical as some experts predict that a recession is looming, if we are not already in one. By lowering student debt, it puts more buyers into the slowing housing market. This puts blue collar workers like electricians and plumbers to work. In short, this is a stimulus that rewards people for education instead of burdening them and punishing them with debt, and at the same time helps the economy. No More.

February 7, 2024 at 6:47 pm
The federal government gets the money for tax payers to borrow to the college and universities student loans. Biden wants to forgive student loans is a double whammy for the tax payers. All the government gets the money for tax payers is not your money is our money. No forgiveness at all payback students you borrow the money then payback. Biden can give his salary to the student loans Close colleges and universities that don't have good degrees and don't accept students with lower grades. Stop the student loans tax payers don't want to pay for colleges and universities. Lower the prices for colleges and universities or close the doors. Biden can give his presidential salary to the federal government to pay for the student loans.

In ten years the middle class won't be able to buy a new car, a house, or a college education. Whats the government going to do then? Everything goes up but wages. I'm so glad I'm retired and my house is paid for.
