Good on India, Russia's weapons were always of poorer quality.
Fun fact: Biden has the power to give you a discount if you give Ukraine your Russian weapons, US already does it with Turkey.
S-400s to Ukraine for a discount on fighter jets.

U will need tones of drones as we saw in Ukraine war. 4 billion for 31 drones lol😂

  22. @Ducky_193

    February 8, 2024 at 8:13 pm

What is India thinking? 130 million for a drone
Here is the cost compare to other.
    F-35A = 70 million
    dassault rafale = 100 = 115 million
    Su-30 mki = 60 – 70 million

  23. @Ducky_193

    February 8, 2024 at 8:13 pm

India's aerospace and defense company must be a joke for the IAF to spend 130 million on a drone. For reference, an F-35A only cost 70 million.

As a Design Trainee (DT) of Group 185 for the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. I have seen firsthand how the Indian government's agencies and manufacturers have developed the LCA programme for 10+ years.

Let me tell you, every excuse under the sun has been used, and here is the fact – we still don’t have a combat ready Tejas in 2023. Earliest projected MK1A variant is expected in mid 2024 from HAL, and we can realistically expect its actual handover and induction by 2025. Nearly 45 years from the project’s launch.

There are volumes of white papers and articles available on the net detailing these 40+ years and the problems/challenges India faced, internal and external.

Even in 2025, while majority of the MK1A airframe, and flight systems/software will be indigenous, the essential components that make a modern fighter jet:

    Jet Engine: American

Weapon Systems: Russian, French and Israeli missiles and bombs (except Astra Mk1)

    AESA Radar: Israeli

    EWAR Suite: Israeli

    Ejection Cockpit: British

Indian agencies claim, some version of Uttam AESA, Kaveri Jet Engine and domestic EWAR Suites are ready, but NONE will be on the MK1A. Highly unlikely even on the Tejas Mk2, which we know will be using an American engine.

All this long ‘Ram Kahani’ to state – the amount of deep tech, exotic materials, jet engineering and precision manufacturing it takes to produce a true 5th Gen Stealth Fighter platform, is laughably absent in India – so all this AMCA talk is complete science fiction.

Tejas MK2 doesn’t even exist as a prototype in 2023, and these Babus are farting claims about AMCA first flight in 2030 and induction by mid 2030s. I can guarantee Tejas Mk2 won’t be inducted by 2030.

The delays in the Tejas program are responsible directly for the dozens of IAF Officers whose lives are lost flying 1950s era Mig-21s in 21st century. Apart from the tax payer money sunk on LCA program, add the significant Forex spent on all the imported components per Tejas, AND now the old jets IAF is having to buy to keep up its squadrons eg the 2021 purchase of 24 retired Mirage 2000s from France.

I have posted multiple times before and will happily claim again – unless there are significant changes at ADA, HAL, in the direction of some public-private-international partnerships, where the consortium uses existing Fighter Jet tech/specialities, to develop all systems related to AMCA, THEN I will eat my socks if AMCA is a reality before 2050, by which time 6th Gen American/Chinese Jets and UCAVs might become the dominant threat in the Indian skies.

This Modi government now won’t take any big decisions before 2024 Lok Sabha elections and only IF they return with single party majority.

Arjun MBT and Tejas LCA are two of India’s biggest white elephants – exorbitant black holes of taxpayer money and mere show pieces, as they are simply NOT combat ready even in 2023.

India cannot continue to import exorbitant options like Rafale, and cannot afford more delays with either Tejas Mk2 or TEDBF or AMCA – ADA & specially HAL needs change, urgently

  24. @Ducky_193

    February 8, 2024 at 8:13 pm

Lol 🤣. India got the short end of the stick again!

First it was 3 billion for 31 reaper drones.

    Now it's 4 billion.

BTW, those reaper drones are the ones that Russia broke by pouring jet fuel on it.

Central African Republic Gold Mine Landslide Kills At Least 100, Rescue Operations Underway

Published

on

By

A major mining tragedy has struck the Central African Republic, where a landslide at the Zamboy gold mining site has killed at least 100 people.

The mining site is located around 50 kilometres from the town of Bambari, where hundreds of artisanal miners reportedly work. A section of the open-pit mining area collapsed, burying people in its path.

Survivors have been taken to hospitals, while search and recovery operations continue. Authorities say the exact number of people inside the mine when the accident occurred remains unknown.

The local public prosecutor said the landslide may have been triggered by the collapse of several underground tunnels where miners were operating. A judicial inquiry has been opened into the disaster.

Small-scale and informal mining remains widespread in parts of Africa, despite regulations and safety concerns. Unemployment and the search for livelihoods continue to push workers toward abandoned or unsafe mining sites.

Karnataka Erupts In Statewide Bandh Over Cauvery Dispute | WION Dispatch

Published

on

By

Karnataka is witnessing a statewide bandh over the Cauvery water-sharing dispute with Tamil Nadu, with security measures heightened across the state.

Protesters in several parts of Karnataka are opposing the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, while stressing that they want the state’s own drinking water and irrigation requirements to be prioritised. In Koppal, protesters adopted an unusual form of demonstration by offering roses to lorry drivers heading towards Tamil Nadu.

Protest groups are also demanding long-term measures to strengthen Karnataka’s water security, including faster implementation of the Mekedatu project.

More than 50 members of pro-Kannada organisations were reportedly arrested during protests. Meanwhile, operations at Kempegowda International Airport remained normal despite the bandh.
