What the US government is doing is stop the consumers of getting better and cheaper EV cars. TSLA is forced to cut their prices in China due to all the competition and choices with better quality and won't froze in negative degrees in very cold cities, as the Chinese EV always tested their cars in the extreme weather condition before published to the market due to different geography. The US just want Tesla to maintain dominant in power and high prices which we are the consumers and voters paid for it. No wonder the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer, that is the truth about US democracy and the economy.
I thought Tesla won't be afraid of competition and make themselves better to stay competitive and low cost, but I guess I'm over estimated Musk. And now the US talking about wants the gasoline cars back? Are we living backwards now? In 10 years, the whole world has transformed into EVs and we're the only one still driving gasoline cars and polluting the world.
I never know what BYD was when looking at Warren Buffet's portfolio 5 years ago, now that's call smart. In fact, after some research, I noticed Tesla is also using some of BYD's batteries as well, what a surprise! Also, BYD are making cars in all ranges of spectrum, starting from as little as a few thousand dollars cars for elderly, all the way to high end cars that's over 100K, so many choices, models and colors. And Tesla only has a few choices and so many call backs and can't stand extreme cold weather conditions. You will only survive if you stay competitive, not putting a bubble around yourself. That's why people said Apple die along with Steve Jobs, no innovations at all.

The westerners need to change their mentality towards China. That ego and superiority complex is weakening their chances of controlling lots of fields in the world. Their attitude of laughing, mocking, and belittling China needs to stop. Collaboration is better and will bring harmony and equal share of world wealth. You can fool the people sometimes, but you can't fool the people all the time.

US car makers were laughing at Japanese cars when they first started. Musk did the same thing with Chinese EVs. Competitions in China is extremely fierce, you do not innovate at break neck and be cost effective, you are toast. Now, Musk and Raimondo are talking about further tariffs and sanctions on Chinese EV because Tesla cannot innovate fast enough?
This same lady was talking about working with EU to slow China innovation back in 2021?
2 things: This is not possible, if there is a will there is a way. China is hell bent on making this happen. (spend your money in creating an environment for innovation in US instead of funding wars around the world) 2. If China was working with Asean or Midde East or Africa and try to slow US innovation, how do you think US and the media will react?
China stay quiet and now dialing this forward, in your face: EV they are the best, chips (they are up and coming both on equipment and 5mm and lower chips), what did Musk said about Chinese work ethics? What did Cook say about tooling and die supplier? They have created a barrier to entry and most of these have path dependencies that cannot be replicated overnight.
US needs to rethink their budgets, stop fundings all these wars and defense, funnel these to foster innovation!

The Fox business commentator wasn't up to speed on this one. Byd overtook Telstra in 2023 making and selling more electric vehicles, helping China to be not just the largest auto maker in the world (30 million made and sold last year), but China is now the world's largest auto exporter overtaking Germany and Japan. The actual numbers are Japan exported 4.42 million vehicles in 2023, according to data released by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association on Wednesday,(31ST Jan 2024) The Japan Times reported. That compared with 4.91 million vehicles shipped from China, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

At the moment EVs are too expensive, battery replacements are too expensive, chargers are hard to find and take too long, and they lose their famously wonderful performance in cold weather. The cars especially don't work cross-country for those reasons, though they may be OK for people who move about only locally and can charge at home.. And for the green crowd, they have to look to where electricity in generated and what pollution is involved at that end. Finally, I wonder how EV users will be taxed for road-building and maintenance when they're not paying motor fuel taxes.
