Here in the UK, I think Shan’s palette is gorgeous and not at all offensive. People just like to complain nowadays. I’m going to purchase it anyway as it’s stunning!

as an american, we are so fucking used to having everything be for us and about us and a reference to us. we need to calm down and leave our bubble and realize that our cultures arent the only cultures, and that other people with different viewpoints exist. its so frustrating esp with something like shan's palette which was so unproblematic.

And because Shaan is using the Maori language to sell a product, she has no idea about Maori culture. And it is not for ppl like you to tell another culture what is ok. She needed to do due diligence. Maori is not Shaans culture she knows nothing about it and clearly neither do you.

Incorrect, NZ history states that when the British imposed colonised rule, they created ‘Native Schools’ to teach the native Maori to speak English, then they made a law that it was illegal to speak Maori. To eliminate the native culture.

That’s so silly… when I’m planting stuff in my garden I would want native plants. What is she going to do call the palate ‘Invasive Species’? And in Canada we call people First Nations, Aboriginal, or Indigenous. I think people just like to get offended over weird things to fit their narrative

I wish I was able to watch this when it was originally posted because I could have explained to everyone watching this what the issue with the Native pallet means. Yes is the United States and Canada we do refer to indigenous peoples as Native. However all of us North American based people need to remember we use the word native in other terms as well that is also considered disrespectful. I personally live in Colorado and I see people everyday with bumper stickers saying "Colorado Native." Doesn't mean they are ACTUALLY native to North America. So there is no reason for the backlash against this pallet.
Plus what is happening right now is what us Anthropologists call "ethnocentrism" which in basic terms means a aay of thinking that people think "my culture is the right way of doing things and your way is wrong." That is not how the world works and every culture has their own way of doing things and thinking. Do not disrespect someone because their culture does things differently from you.

Sadly the most obnoxious people are the most heard. I think the native palette is pretty. I'm American and I did think native people first but then when I heard plants and animals I understood. I know you guys get a lot flack from Americans, please know that are not all dense

I love Baby Yoda, but would never wear the colours in the ColourPop palette. Not worth it for me…Just saw this, sold out, $25 on ebay and mercari, though. 🧟♀️🧟🧟♂️

The only difference with the Huda , Naughty palette is these larger ones are all made in Italy & the quality is superior in my humble opinion. I like that she delves into various textures in her palettes which make it more unique. Just my thoughts .

I live a hop, skip, and a jump away from a native reserve in Canada. That's what they call themselves and how they introduce themselves, should the topic come up in conversation. A third of the students in my elementary school were native. In speeches however I've noticed our Prime Minister refer to them as Indigenous and First Nations Peoples. But in everyday life it's Native. Or the name of the tribe. So I;ve heard people say "I'm Native" and "I'm Mohawk."

On XO Beauty Native Eyeshadow palette: I’m Canadian and I admit, when I saw the name of the palette, I was like “huh? What?” But then I went on her website and read the description, the names of the shades, made other research, and everything made sense after. Honestly, I’m annoyed (euphemism) at people who don’t give a f*** about other cultures than their own. I mean, it’s not like the Orgy Palette of JSC that is offensive in most cultures (not to say in all cultures considering JS audience…).
On Colourpop “The Child” eyeshadow palette: Gone too fast! Love the series, love the colour story (green is my favourite colour 💚). Always miss interesting Colourpop launches… It’s kind of making me crazy 😅😂🧟♀️
