I find it funny how the paint stripper literally says ‘poison’ in big red letters on the front when it acts pretty similarly to the nail product

Here's me commenting on an old video again but when I saw this stuff in action I had one thought – architectural paint stripper. It's not based on petrochemicals and is designed to be used on delicate antiques, plaster coving and the like. They are definitely chemical based, just like most things, but don't use those chemicals that originate from crude oil. A lot are from citrus oils or tree oils – for example turpentine, aka turps, is tree based! It doesn't mean that they're safe by any means. I certainly don't want it on my nails or skin… or to breathe in the fumes.

Late to the party, but I wonder if the auto shop guys would be able to identify the ingredient(s) in the gel nail remover by smell. People who work with this stuff all the time usually have insane knowledge about these things.

I tried it, I admit. It didn't hurt or anything, but it also didn't work better than pure acetone. I wish there was a paint on acetone in a gel form because removing gel polish with all those fussy little cotton pads is annoying. It helps to file off as much as possible, but gel dust is dangerous, so you really need to wear a mask when you do it and no one talks about that.

It looks nothing like what's shown in their demo videos.
The paint stripper had more of a resemblance to the demo videos.
No ingredients = no use! Literally no idea what is In the product.

The nail polish stripper could contain "natural resin" and still be an industrial paint stripper. A very common mistake is to assume that "natural" means "safe" or "harmless". Many paint strippers are terpene-based, terpenes are organic solvents which are often obtained from plant resins – "natural resin" isn't really a well defined term but it could mean that the nail polish stripper contains terpenes derived from plant resins, which many industrial paint solvents also do. My point is: something being derived from a natural source does NOT automatically make it any safer than a synthetic chemical, many dangerous industrial chemicals are naturally derived. Always do research into new products you are using – especially those that go in or on your body – and take proper precautions, and don't assume something is safe just because it's natural.

Even if it isn't paint stripper (which it seems like it is…) just the fact that the sellers refuse to give an ingredient list should be enough of a sign that it's dangerous.

When I use acetone and use foil to penetrate gel nails, my nail still curl up too. I think that is because of dehydration. But yes this stuff is dangerous to use tbh.

You could always get a chemical analysis done comparing paint stripper to the polish remover. Lab testing would tell you exactly what’s in that little bottle.

This is crazy!! I just went to my nail salon to get my gels removed and the lady reached for this exact product to remove my gel! 😳😳 when I saw it I was like “umm no please don’t use that it hurts my skin” ! I can’t believe they’re actually starting to use this in nail salons now!
