“Why do people need a student loan bailout?” When these two people went to school the government paid more than half the cost of their education. Today the government pays for less than 15%.

Not everyone got federal student loans. Many of us had to get private loans which were never included in the bailout and have almost doubled due to inflation and the higher prime rate. It would be nice if someone would mention that

Can I take out a loan to buy a truck and equipment to start a landscaping business and then have to pay it back? How about a loan to buy a building and open a store? Why should I be discriminated against just because I want to go into business instead of collage?
Also, if they ram this BS through then anyone getting a loan forgiven should have to pay income taxes on the amount forgiven.

If you default on your student loan, you can not declare it if you file for bankruptcy. If you default on your student loan, the government will take it from your social security check. The government will get your money eventually.
