   Crime is caused by underlying social conditions and desperation. People turn to theft and violence under the stress of harsh economic conditions. If you improve economic conditions for working people rather than giving tax breaks to the wealthy, price gauging and commodifying every need in a person's life, then that strain on people goes down. It's why poverty and crime are linked, and it's why we saw an increase in crime during covid. You can't police your way out of it. Police don't do anything to prevent crime from happening, they only respond after a crime has been committed and do a bad job at that.
