Over the years I perfected the work break down structure within a agile management environment.

Management Overview (who’s who?) = OBS
“OBS” stands for Organizational Breakdown Structure

Then each functional area of the OBS will be assigned and they will track accordingly. Either using PV/EV, PERT, CPM, Gannt etc.

Jobs are broken down into small increments called “Task Summaries”

WBS = work break down structure.

The WBS is a breakdown of a particular task where the budget meets the schedule.

    Example:
Install Cable: 2 days 16 hr $10,000 budget
    -Place Cable= 8hr
    -Terminate Cable =4hr
    -Test Cable= 4hr

    Goal for project manager:
    Place Cable= 5hr
    Terminate= 2hr
    Test Cable= 4hr

    Budgeted time= 16hr
    Actual time= 11hr

    Budgeted Cost: $10,000
    Actual Cost: $6,500.00

    Install Cable = Summary Task

    Place/Terminate/Test Cable = Work 📦 package.

Each work package has its own perceived value.

If you are interviewing for a project management position, simply read the description of what they’re looking for.

More than likely, they’ll introduce themselves and say “tell me a little bit about yourself” and this gentleman in this video, hit the nail right on top of the head!

First, always thank them for the opportunity for interviewing for the position.

This is where things fly off the rails because people don’t have any order. They start blabbering about them going to parochial school, and what they did in college, etc..

Instead conduct the transition with the following:

    Thanks you for the opportunity….
    For the….

“For the” is the transition into your next thought.

Put it all together like this “I’d like to thank you for the opportunity to interview for this position with your company. For the last 13 years, I have developed an extensive skill, qualities, attributes, and experiences I believe will match perfectly with this job description. {Always use the word “believe” do not use “feel” or “think” or “wish” or “hope”). If you notice, most of those words are of emotion. You don’t want to illicit emotion. The only way you want to convey emotion is to gain rapport with your interviewer, and to do that you simply utilize your tonality.

You wnt to thank them for the opportunity, using a “sing song“ tone.

When you transition, you want to use “absolute certainty” followed by absolute sincerity.

It’s as if your saying without saying “ listen pal, I have the background, I have the scars, I have the qualities to be the best at this job better than anyone, I have extensive knowledge that I have developed and built up over X amount of years”

    Followed by

I believe match perfectly with the job description = your using the tone saying without saying ” believe me, you’ll be very very impressed. Sound fair enough?” actually saying.

I do find that, when interviewing, less is often more; but, this was still pretty good. I just advise others to keep your answers relatively short, unless asked to expound. It shows confidence and you also don't risk sounding redundant or scripted.
