   Yes the scoreline flattered Barca. Liverpool just missed their chances – should have scored at least 2 goals. Messi was quiet until his tap in and should have been sent off for punching Fabinho in the face before the freekick.

    Yes they were a bit unlucky once or twice in the game, losing two easy goals.
    Barca, sorry dembele, also lost two easy goals (actually an easy and a ridiculously easy goal).
    So in the end the end of the day it was a good, even game. But Barca have Messi, and that's what made the difference.

    English delusional punditry at its best lol. Whatever happens, English teams are somehow superior in their eyes. People want to say that Liverpool dominated Barcelona. This is Barcelona, if they wanted the ball they would have had it. This was nothing short of tactical masterclass by Valverde. If Barcelona wanted the ball they would have played Arthur rather than Arturo Vidal. Valverde chose a guy who would break up play and feed the front 3, rather than a guy who would keep ball. They set up to counterattack, and this is the first time in all of Valverde's time at the club that the backline stayed so low for majority of the match. He recognized that Liverpool's forwards were far too pacy to take a risk with raising the line higher and playing with possession. Sitting narrow and defending with a 4-4-2 minimized chances for Liverpool. Valverde was hoping for Klopp to maintain his style and not try to "shackle" Messi. There was so much space for Messi to do run around the middle, that's almost unseen in La Liga. The only way to defend against Messi and the midfield of Barcelona is with 2 lines of four. That's why Atletico Madrid (playing with 4-4-2) has been successful in knocking Barcelona out of the Champions League twice in the last 5 years.

    Klopp didn't get his tactics right, it's too audacious and almost arrogant to assume that Messi won't have an influence on the game when you let him run around the middle without any plan. That's basically where the second goal came from, they gave Messi free roam down the middle of the pitch.

    Barcelona was superior. Absorbing pressure, conceding possession and hitting on the counter was the idea. Barcelona could have been more clinical, the 1st leg could have ended 4-0 or 5-0, not to mention that Matip got lucky not conceding a penalty for handball in the first half. VAR should have intervened there. Critics and pundits are being too nice to Liverpool. They weren't as fantastic as they believe.

    And particularly, when you hear people like Jermaine Pennant saying "Man Utd were superior to Barcelona in that tie"….well, that's the quality of the punditry. These clowns get paid money to say these things.

    Messi got at that lucky rebound, and scored great free kick. But from open game, he really didnt do that much. So, yes, he was quiet! On the other day Lvp would have won that game! Most undeserving defeat i ever saw in my life..

    Are you guys dumb or what. ManU was better in the first leg. Zero shots on target and you call that a performance. And Liverpool played well. But Barca created more clear-cut chances and scored 3. Its not like Barça scraped through with a goal. Liverpool had chances and they never took them and Barca did. So the better team won.
