The interview question, why are you interested in this position comes up during 95% of job interviews, but only 5% of candidates answer it correctly. Therefore, if you have an interview coming up soon for any role or company, stay tuned because I will give you the perfect answer!

PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL AND GIVE THE VIDEO A LIKE. THANK YOU! 🙏 😊

OK, let’s get started with the reason why the hiring manager is asking you the interview question, why are you interested in this position? Please take notes…
So, they are actually asking you this question for two reasons:
REASON #1. They want to assess whether your motivations for wanting the job are related to pay. If you are solely interested in a paycheck, you won’t get hired.

REASON #2. And the second reason why they are asking you the question, why are you interested in this position is because they want to see how PASSIONATE you are about your work. Passionate people are more likely to stay in their jobs for a long time, which is helpful to the employer, and more importantly, they will be far more productive than the average employee!

OK, let me now tell you the 5 things you should NEVER SAY when answering the interview question, why are you interested in this position?
#1. Do not say you are interested in the job because it’s close to home. This type of answer just shows you are only interested in what you can get from the position.

#2. Do not say you are interested in the job because the salary is competitive or better than what most employers offer. Again, this shows you to be money-motivated, which could put the employer off from hiring you.

#3. Do not say you are interested in the position because the hours suit your personal life, or there is the opportunity to work from home. Again, this tells the interviewer you are more interested in what YOU can get from the position.

#4. Do not say you are interested in the position because the benefits, perks of the job, or bonuses are attractive.

#5. Do not say you are interested in the position because the holiday or annual leave allowance is great!

OK, so now that we know the 5 things you should never say when answering the interview question, why are you interested in this position, let me give you 2 brilliant scripted answers!

HOW TO PASS A SITUATIONAL JUDGEMENT TEST!
If you have a Situational Judgement Test (SJT) coming up as part of a job application, assessment centre, or recruitment process, preparation is essential.

Situational Judgement Tests are designed to assess how you are likely to behave in realistic workplace situations. You will typically be given a scenario followed by several possible responses. You may then be asked to select the BEST and WORST actions, rank the responses from most to least effective, or choose what you are MOST and LEAST likely to do.

Here are my top tips for passing your Situational Judgement Test!

TIP 1: PUT THE ORGANISATION FIRST
When answering SJT questions, think like a responsible employee. The strongest answers usually protect the interests of the organisation, customers, colleagues, and wider team.

Avoid options based purely on what is easiest or most convenient for you.

Ask yourself:

“What would a professional, reliable employee do in this situation?”

That mindset will immediately improve your chances of choosing the correct answer.

TIP 2: FOLLOW RULES AND PROCEDURES
Situational Judgement Tests often assess whether you can follow workplace rules, policies, procedures, and safety requirements.

Never ignore a rule simply to save time or make life easier.

If a situation involves safety, security, confidentiality, safeguarding, money, or sensitive information, choose the response that follows the correct procedure.

TIP 3: TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
Employers want people who take ownership of problems.

Weak SJT answers often involve ignoring the situation, hoping somebody else deals with it, blaming another person, or pretending nothing has happened.

Instead, look for answers that demonstrate accountability, initiative, honesty, and professionalism.

** 🎯 Get access to 1000 SJT Practice Questions at: 🎯 **
https://www.how2become.com/free-situational-judgement-test-questions/

TIP 4: TRY TO RESOLVE PROBLEMS YOURSELF
A common mistake is assuming that you should immediately report every problem to your manager.

Managers want employees who can use their judgement and resolve straightforward issues independently.

For example, if you have a minor disagreement with a co-worker, the best response will often be to speak to them privately and professionally first.

However, serious issues involving safety, misconduct, harassment, security, or significant risk should be escalated appropriately.

TIP 5: COMMUNICATE PROFESSIONALLY
Many Situational Judgement Test questions assess communication and teamwork.

The strongest answers normally involve being calm, respectful, helpful, and professional.

Avoid responses that are confrontational, dismissive, emotional, rude, or likely to make the situation worse.

Even when somebody else is behaving unprofessionally, maintain your own standards.

TIP 6: PRIORITISE CORRECTLY
You may encounter SJT questions where you have several competing tasks.

Prioritise based on:

Urgency + Importance + Risk + Impact

Do not simply complete the task you prefer or the easiest one first.

If two important tasks genuinely cannot both be completed by the deadline, communicate early and seek guidance on priorities rather than staying silent and missing a deadline.

TIP 7: LOOK FOR THE “PROFESSIONAL” ANSWER
When you are unsure which response is best, look for the option demonstrating the strongest combination of:

Integrity – Responsibility – Teamwork – Communication – Customer Service – Safety – Professionalism

Equally, the WORST answers usually involve ignoring problems, breaking rules, dishonesty, unnecessary confrontation, poor communication, or putting personal convenience ahead of the organisation.

FINAL SITUATIONAL JUDGEMENT TEST TIP
Before your assessment, complete as many Situational Judgement Test practice questions and answers as possible.

Don’t just memorise the correct answers. Study WHY one response is better than another. Once you understand the behaviours employers are assessing, you will become much faster and more confident at identifying the strongest response.

Remember: think professionally, follow procedures, take responsibility, communicate effectively, and always consider the consequences of your actions.

HOW TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN A JOB INTERVIEW | TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF | BEST ANSWER!

HOW TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN A JOB INTERVIEW | TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF | BEST ANSWER! https://youtu.be/YbDox5YpHf8?si=oyShKUjDWy5yy-5I #jobinterview #introduceyourself #tellmeaboutyourself #interviewquestions

HOW TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN A JOB INTERVIEW!
The hardest part of any job interview is right at the start when the hiring manager says to you: INTRODUCE YOURSELF! It’s the hardest part because you will be the most nervous at the beginning, and it’s always difficult to know what to say in your introduction.

But fear not, I am here to help you.

In this video, I will give you 4 great tips for introducing yourself, give you a simple 4-step structure for what you need to say and then give you the perfect answer to write down.

My name is Richard McMunn, and I have been a hiring manager and recruitment expert for more than 30 years – subscribe, give the video a like, and also tell me the name of the role you are being interviewed for in the comments below this video so I can give you some extra help.

4 POWERFUL TIPS FOR GIVING THE PERFECT JOB INTERVIEW INTRODUCTION 01:26
TIP 1 – Keep your interview introduction professional – do not talk about your family, relationship status, hobbies, or any personal issues.

TIP 2 – Keep your introduction to no longer than 60 seconds – that is all it needs to be. The interviewer wants a brief introduction before they ask you various questions to assess your suitability for the role.

TIP 3 – Make sure you practice your introduction several times before the interview. This is very important because the interviewer is assessing your communication skills – give a confident introduction and the rest of the interview will be a breeze!

TIP 4 – This is probably the best tip I can give you – talk about the following 4 things in your introduction:
SKILLS – Say that your skills match the job description and that you are a disciplined, responsive and accountable team player.
EXPERIENCE – Say that you have the experience to make a difference in the role – you have experience working on teams, problem-solving, and completing time-critical tasks.
ACHIEVEMENTS – Briefly talk about one or two achievements you have attained in your life so far. For example, winning Employee of the Month, achieving outstanding grades at college or helping your employer receive lots of 5-star reviews online.
TYPE OF PERSON YOU ARE – You can say that you are the type of person who always ensures your employer receives a great return from your salary.
