   The turtle thing is a connection that Stephen king spreads through out a lot of his books, originating from The Dark Tower series. Its a woven web that's really fascinating, but it's essentially one of the guardians of the beams that hold all the worlds together.

   Having a Master's degree in Film Production, having the privilege of reading the legitimate script for the 2017 film (shhhhhh) and having read the book, I can confidently say the script for this film is a BEAST. It is so well written and was so well executed. Films are such complicated endeavours, the fact that anything remotely coherent is made blows my mind constantly. Then sometimes really magical projects happen, and a group of extremely talented and passionate people get together and make truly amazing films. Movies like this renew my faith in films in the wake of systematically churned out explosion-fests.

   I absolutely love this wine time! I like all of them now that I’ve found them, but I love the Stephen King books and loved the movie so this is awesome!! I’d love to hear you guys discuss It Part 2 when it comes out next year!

   Oh my God! I love this movie!! It's so funny how much I agree with you guys. I hate feeling tired when I finish watching a horror movie and this definitely did not leave me feeling tired.

   There is a wide variety of different types of horror. IT is indeed horror. It’s meant to be more aesthetically creepy. The sores on the leper and the dead drowned face of Georgie are images meant to be scary, but not in the same way most people think of when they think about horror. This creature can create what appears to be a hallucination of what an individual fears most. Bev having intercorse with her companions, one by one, in the book is not something that’s in your face because the context in which it is in is not sexual really at all. The scene is supposed to be the binding between childhood and adulthood while also bringing them closer to each other, making the children stronger as one, instead of fighting alone. Reading the book before watching both movies, old and new, is, I think, the best experience. I am a huge Stephen King fan and my lovely friends brought me to this movie in theater and it was everything I could hope for, honestly. This newer version is the closest interpretation of the book thus far. The lines are so close to the dialogue and I loved IT so much!

   In the books some kids went missing, other kids' bodies were discovered. So there was a mix and it was scary. Patrick gives Henry a handjob (Patrick is also the one who keeps animals in a fridge to slowly kill them, oh and he also killed his baby brother) I don't recall Bev's dad being sexual with her except maybe at the end when "IT" is possessing him/ takes his form to terrorize Beverly. Also Bev was never really flirtatious like, at all.. she was a tomboy type and idk i kinda was turned off at how the 2017 one sexually objectified her and made her damsel in distress (when IT abducts her-never happens in book) so yeah i didn't care for the 2017 one…. meh,

    I know what you mean about things being much scarier when you're a kid… I used to be terrified of Itchy and Scratchy from the Simpsons!! And I watched the Ring way too young and it scarred me for life!

    I want to watch IT, but no one I know wants to see it 😩 I also saw the original when I was a kid. The original and Poltergeist is what made me terrified of clowns

    I’ve never read/seen IT and listening to this discussion i realize it’s not what i thought it was! I thought it was just a killer clown that chased after kids but no real plot… hmmm… may have to take time to watch them…

    I haven't gotten a chance to go see it yet, but after watching this, I'm definitely going to make time to take my husband on a date to see it very soon. I'm nearly 31, so the original was right in my era!

    I read the book when I was 16 – when it first came out. I've always had a great imagination and shouldn't've read it, but I did. I've been suspicious of drains ever since (and I'm now 47). LOL!

    I think Stephen King has held more control over his stories made to movies. He has had disappointment before and I think he learned his lesson. So many of his books have been butchered when made into movies.

    I was never really interested in either of the Its until after watching this but now I might have too. Unless my irrational childhood fear was vampires (thanks supply teacher when I was five).

    I'm too much of a wimp to see the film because of the clowning that happened in the UK and I'm not looking forward to Halloween as I'm worried that the clowning will return because I walk back from my sisters at night it only takes 5mins but I'm still on edge while walking home.

    Things I loved about "It":
    The great and clever contrast between a bright summery innocent colourful scenery and the darkness of a clown in all the shapeshifting forms that can appear un a sunny day. That contrast is so real, so raw, that eventhough one can think it's funny I depict it as creepy as hell.
    The uglyness of not only the clown, but the people, which really scares me more. The elder characters are creepier than the "clown" itself.
    The way Pennywise runs is so out of this world, so out of our control…in contrast with Tim Curry's Pennywise, that was like a real person/killer disguised as a clown. In this movie you can see it's something out of this world.

    There are many other things I loved about the movie, but it would be toooo long to write it down here.
