Capitalists are so funny on this subject. Listen to them whine that, "we didn't get it before, so why should anyone else get it now?"
ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS when capitalists whine about FAIRNESS .
Capitalism, that they swear by, is by definition a NASTY UN-FAIR, DOG EAT DOG, VICIOUS, AMORAL, ECONOMIC R**E FEST.
IT IS HORRENDOUS. Not only is there nothing fair about it, but right wing media routinely PRAISES the UNfairness and that some have made it rich while others faceplant at the bottom. THEY LOVE IT, AND CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT. But when it's tax based, oh my god, hold on to your trousers, there's gonna be he^^ to pay.
Everyone went into their schooling prior to this believing they would have to pay for it if they didn't have a grant or scholarship. Nobody got screwed. You got exactly what you were expecting.
Now…..having said all that…..I do not think that right now, that Biden's "plan" is a good one. We're in an economic quagmire and while I support free education for basically all except the wealthy, I think we need a slower, softer ramp up to free education. Now is not the time for massive spending unless it's infrastructure or basic needs like housing and SNAP, etc.

What the ranting woman on the steps of the supreme Court said about the auto bailout loans is wrong. Those loans were repaid to the government by the auto companies. This forgiveness of student loans is an absolute gift of money!

Education is not a common good anymore. If your high school is crumbling, organize a bake sale. If you want to go to college, you're on your own. Our elections are supposed to be fair. Voters rejected school funding measures three times in LA after the 2019 teachers' strike.
