How to Write an ATS-Compatible CV (2025 Guide)
If you want to get noticed by employers, you must learn how to write an ATS-compatible CV. ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System—a tool used by recruiters to scan and filter CVs before a human ever sees them. If your CV isn’t ATS-friendly, it may be rejected automatically, no matter how qualified you are.
Follow these tips to ensure your CV passes the ATS scan:
Use a Simple Layout – Avoid tables, columns, text boxes, images, and fancy fonts. Stick to a clean format with standard fonts like Arial or Calibri.
Include Relevant Keywords – Scan the job description and mirror the keywords used (e.g., “project management,” “customer service,” “data analysis”) naturally in your CV.
Use Standard Headings – Stick to traditional headings like Work Experience, Education, Skills, and Professional Summary. ATS software recognises these easily.
Avoid Graphics and Logos – ATS systems can’t read visuals. Text only is best.
Save as a Word Document (.doc or .docx) – Some older ATS platforms struggle with PDFs.
Use Bullet Points – Keep achievements clear and scannable. Each bullet point should focus on a result or skill.
Don’t Overuse Acronyms – Always spell out terms at least once: e.g., “Customer Relationship Management (CRM)”.
Creating an ATS-friendly CV boosts your chances of getting to the interview stage. Make your CV readable, relevant, and results-focused!

For the first one the 3rd claim is wrong, you might not see any birds(there are no birds) and the statement 'the only birds I see are swans' is still true.

what if the statements are all strong so therefore you would need the strongest statement. The query is in the given example what are the correct answers?
@bensonfazili1892
March 12, 2024 at 7:59 am
You are wrong actually. For the first question you say that both claims 1 and 3 are correct, though only claim 3 is. Claim one is false because the statement is "If I go down to the pond today, the only birds I will see are swans". The keyword here is the word "see" Just because they only birds you will see at the pond are swans does not mean that there will not be any other birds, it simply just means that swans are the only ones you will see. Therefore claim 1 could be false which means it is not valid. Please reply with your thoughts.
