"Why is it important to promote diversity within the police force?"

My answer to this question would use a quote by Sir Robert Peel, who founded the Metropolitan Police Service. He said "The police are the public and the public are the police".

I would explain that the United Kingdom has a very diverse society, with people from a wide range of backgrounds, and that this should be reflected in the composition of the police. When Sir Robert Peel said what I have quoted him saying above, he was referring to it not being a case of "us vs them" in relation to the police and the public.

I think this is a good quote to use, because it demonstrates to the interview panel that you've done your research.

    Points to remember:

    – Police officers are expected to do shift work – it is not a 9 to 5 job. Make sure you mention any relevant experience.
    – There is a risk that you will be assaulted. Police officers have the same right not to be assaulted when they go to work as everyone else (and courts also take a dim view of those who assault police officers), but it is a possibility that you must be prepared for.
    – It is not a police officer's job to beat anyone up – in fact, a good day for a police officer is when they don't have to use force!
    – The terms "policeman" and "policewoman" have fallen out of favour, in favour of the gender-neutral term "police officer". The term "police service" is also considered preferable to "police force".

As with all jobs, you will need to be able to demonstrate to the interviewer that you have done your research beforehand. Many police officers here in Britain resign from the service shortly after joining due to not knowing what to expect.

@CareerVidz Hi friend! I just want to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU as I got the job working for the Police.

This is my first job in the Police after working for the NHS for several years, and wanted a career change and have ALWAYS wanted to work for the Police. I did NOT think I would get the job as I have NEVER worked for the Police before. But truly I learnt they just want to see your skill-set and experience, and how you would handle situations and scenarios, not to catch you out (or else, why would they be hiring in the first place. Therefore, they need you to do well).

They told me my application form and my Interview was one of the best they have seen in a very long time, and they said I gave absolutely brilliant examples from my previous work experience in the Interview which also tied in with the current job role. They liked that I kept the examples relevant to the job description.

I am so very grateful to you for your videos and I am so very proud of myself for getting the job. I am a very proud public servant!!! I love serving the public and society as a whole. From the NHS to now the Police, I am truly in awe I get to work to not only change lives, but save lives too. THANK YOU once again from the bottom of my ever so grateful heart. God bless you!!!

TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF & WHY SHOULD WE HIRE YOU? (Best Answers for JOB INTERVIEWS!) #tellmeaboutyourself #whyshouldwehireyou #jobinterview #interviewtips
LAST MINUTE INTERVIEW TIPS! https://youtu.be/6bJTEZnTT5A?si=S49Q0LuxM2ZuvNd7
Tell me about yourself and Why should we hire you are two of the most common and toughest questions to answer in a job interview. In this tutorial, interview coach Richard McMunn teaches you the best structure to use and provides a unique sample answer to both questions for you to write down and practice. To get hired, watch this video in full!

HOW TO ANSWER TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF!
Use the SEAT structure:
SKILLS – List 3-4 skills you have that align with the job description.
EXPERIENCE – Give brief details of any experience you can bring to the role. If it’s your first job, talk about your educational background instead.
ACHIEVEMENTS – Talk about any significant achievements you have attained in your life to date. These tell the hiring manager you have a track record of success.
TYPE OF PERSON – Finish your answer by telling the interviewer what you will do in the role to add value to the team and company.

HOW TO ANSWER WHY SHOULD WE HIRE YOU?
Use the FIRE structure:
FIT – Say they should hire you because you are a great fit for the role regarding your skills, knowledge and experience.
IMPACT – This means you can have an immediate impact in the role and will need minimal supervision.
RESULTS-DRIVEN – Say they should hire you because you are results-driven and always set yourself goals to achieve.
EXCEED EXPECTATIONS – Finally, say they should hire you because you will exceed expectations in the role to ensure they get a brilliant return on your salary.

BEST WORDS FOR TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF 07:34
What is the best answer for Tell me about yourself? 10:12

Answering the classic interview prompt, “Tell me about yourself,” can be daunting, especially when you lack professional experience. However, rather than focusing solely on work history, emphasize your strengths, aspirations, and relevant qualities. Begin by introducing yourself with a brief personal background, mentioning your education, interests, and any extracurricular activities or volunteer work that demonstrate your skills and character.

Next, highlight your eagerness to learn and grow in the desired role. Express genuine enthusiasm for the opportunity, emphasizing your willingness to work hard and adapt to new challenges. Emphasize transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management, gained through academic projects, group activities, or personal endeavors.

Additionally, discuss how your unique experiences have prepared you for the position. Share anecdotes or examples that illustrate your adaptability, resilience, or passion for the field. Remember to align your response with the job requirements and company culture, demonstrating your understanding of the role and how you can contribute positively.

While you may lack professional experience, showcasing your potential, enthusiasm, and relevant qualities can leave a lasting impression on the interviewer and increase your chances of landing the job.
