Don't see why WION & this reporter are creating unnecessary panic about QR codes. Once scanned its no different than a web url or a line of plain text, and the same precautions to using them apply. QR codes are at the heart of India's payment systems, so media should act more responsibility; the goal should be to educate and not to make sensational claims.

It's known as DNS hijacking. All Legit DNS providers keep an updated list of domains which hosts malware and other illegal crap.

I can just imagine a QR Code being linked to a site that is severely compromised.
