Pakistan struck by the year’s biggest attack on armed troops | This World
24 soldiers were killed in a suicide attack in Pakistan’s Dera Ismail Khan. Terrorists from the newly-formed group Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the gate of a police station. Following the attack, Pakistan summoned the Afghan envoy and asked for ‘verifiable actions against terrorist groups and their sanctuaries’.

Lithuania’s parliamentary parties have agreed on a plan to lift a constitutional ban on nuclear weapons and foreign military bases in the Baltic nation, the president said, in a sign of how Russia is resetting security calculations in the region.
The move — a major legal overhaul which will need two-thirds majorities in two parliamentary votes to go through — would remove prohibitions put in place more than three decades ago after Lithuania broke away from the Soviet Union.

Four Indian seafarers were killed and another was left in critical condition after the merchant vessel MV Golden Leo came under attack shortly after departing Ukraine’s Odesa port. The ship had 17 crew members on board, including five Indian nationals. India’s Ministry of External Affairs has expressed condolences to the families of the victims and said its mission in Ukraine is closely monitoring the situation while providing all possible assistance to those affected.
