WHAT IS A PERSONAL STATEMENT AND HOW IS IT USED DURING AN APPLICATION PROCESS?
A personal statement is used as part of an initial screening process for either a job application or whenever a student is applying for a specific course with a college or university.
The assessor will thoroughly read your personal statement and use it to decide whether to invite you along for an interview or to the next stage of the application process.
When someone is assessing a personal statement, they are predominantly looking for 3 things:
#1. They want to see that you have the RIGHT SKILLS to do the job properly, or the ATTRIBUTES to complete the college or university course you have applied for.
#2. They want to see that you are GENUINELY PASSIONATE AND ENTHUSIASTIC about the job or the course. If you are passionate, and you have the desire to succeed, you are more likely to be a high-achiever.
#3. They want to see whether or not you are already an ACHIEVER and someone who has a track record of success in your life.
