Yemen’s Houthis claim to have launched a barrage of ballistic and cruise missiles towards Israel. Israel’s military has warned of a possible hostile aircraft intrusion. Israel has also used its long-range arrow air defence system for the first time since the war began.

Former Pentagon adviser Douglas MacGregor has warned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could be dragging the United States deeper into the ongoing conflict in West Asia. MacGregor said the war is likely to continue for weeks as tensions between Israel and Iran escalate and regional actors become increasingly involved.

He also warned that any move to close the Strait of Hormuz would be a “disaster” for global trade and energy markets. The strategic waterway is one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes, carrying a significant portion of global crude exports.
