I’m almost 61 years old. Back in 1983, I had the pleasure of going on a date with a young lady on the East German swim team. She was here in Los Angeles for a pre-1984 Olympics competition. Of course, her nation boycotted the following year. We went out for lunch and I asked her what life was like under communism. She told me that, yes, everyone who can work has a job. She also told me that even under communism, the elite still have the nicer homes, the nicer cars, the nicer clothes. I was 20 and I actually thought everyone was equal under communism, but she told me the truth. It’s that way here in California. Why the inner cities continue to vote democrat is beyond me.
