Right at the start of your job interview, the hiring manager will say to you… Please introduce yourself. The hiring manager will ask you the interview question, INTRODUCE YOURSELF for two reasons:

REASON #1. Asking you to introduce yourself gives you the chance to start talking. You will be the most nervous at the start of your interview, and giving you the opportunity to talk about something you know a lot about yourself really helps calm your nerves.

REASON #2. The second reason they will ask you to INTRODUCE YOURSELF is because they want to assess your COMMUNICATION SKILLS. All job roles require the ability to communicate professionally. That is why it is imperative you practice your job interview introduction several times before your interview, so you give a confident and professional response.

OK, let me now tell you the 4 things you can talk about in your job interview introduction before I give you those sample answers. Please write these down!

#1. The first thing to talk about in your introduction is the SKILLS you have that match the job description. Part of a job interview is to assess the skills and strengths you have that will empower you to quickly meet the demands of the role. The most sought-after skills include PROBLEM SOLVING, COMMUNICATION, TEAM WORKING, and TIME MANAGEMENT.

#2. The second thing to discuss in your job interview INTRODUCTION is your EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND and any EXPERIENCE you have gained. Quickly tell the hiring manager the qualifications you have that will help you in the position, and give brief details of EXPERIENCE gained that will help you make a positive difference to their team.

#3. The third thing to discuss in your job interview INTRODUCTION is details of any ACHIEVEMENTS you have gained in life. These achievements can come from your career or personal life. When you talk about your achievements, it tells the hiring manager you have a track record of success!

#4. The fourth and final thing to say in your job interview INTRODUCTION is what you will do in the role if they hire you. This is called a PLAN OF ACTION. Telling the hiring manager what you will do in the role when you start work gives them the reassurance they will see a great return from your salary.

OK, now that we know the 4 things to discuss in your job interview introduction, let me give you 2 examples of INTRODUCTIONS for all job roles. All you have to do is choose the one most applicable to you.

In this video, I will give you 4 great tips for introducing yourself, give you a simple 4-step structure for what you need to say and then give you the perfect answer to write down.

4 POWERFUL TIPS FOR GIVING THE PERFECT JOB INTERVIEW INTRODUCTION 01:26
TIP 1 – Keep your interview introduction professional – do not talk about your family, relationship status, hobbies, or any personal issues.

TIP 2 – Keep your introduction to no longer than 60 seconds – that is all it needs to be. The interviewer wants a brief introduction before they ask you various questions to assess your suitability for the role.

TIP 3 – Make sure you practice your introduction several times before the interview. This is very important because the interviewer is assessing your communication skills – give a confident introduction and the rest of the interview will be a breeze!

TIP 4 – This is probably the best tip I can give you – talk about the following 4 things in your introduction:
SKILLS – Say that your skills match the job description and that you are a disciplined, responsive and accountable team player.
EXPERIENCE – Say that you have the experience to make a difference in the role – you have experience working on teams, problem-solving, and completing time-critical tasks.
ACHIEVEMENTS – Briefly talk about one or two achievements you have attained in your life so far. For example, winning Employee of the Month, achieving outstanding grades at college or helping your employer receive lots of 5-star reviews online.
TYPE OF PERSON YOU ARE – You can say that you are the type of person who always ensures your employer receives a great return from your salary.
