WHY IS THE HIRING MANAGER ASKING YOU THE INTERVIEW QUESTION, WHAT CAN YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?
The hiring manager is asking this interview question because they want to determine what they are going to get in return for the monthly salary they are paying. As you and I know, hiring someone costs the employer every month by way of a salary, and if a candidate can offset that salary by adding SIGNIFICANT VALUE in the role, they are more likely to get hired!

So, the best way to answer the interview question, what can you bring to the role, is to think of 3 things you can do that will give the company a positive return on their investment. Let’s take a look at 3 examples!

1. Is to say you always have a positive attitude in your work, you will always embrace change, and the fact you will always put the needs of your team above everything else.

2. Is to say you have the experience and ideas to help the company increase sales. For example, if you are good at social media, tell the interviewer you can help them promote their products online more effectively.

Worked for a company that had 3 contracts. Ikea,Wayfair and Amazon. Due to a lack of warehouse space contracts were lost. Prior to loosing those contracts, I suggested expanding to the empty warehouse next door. They didn't do it. Business failed because of lack of space.

My POV on Why the question is being asked.

    1. Does the person understand the expectation.
    2. Do they have the back ground experience and values
    3. Can they take me to next level or exceed my expectations
    4. Do they match my culture and can they improve my culture

How to Write an ATS-Compatible CV (2025 Guide)
If you want to get noticed by employers, you must learn how to write an ATS-compatible CV. ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System—a tool used by recruiters to scan and filter CVs before a human ever sees them. If your CV isn’t ATS-friendly, it may be rejected automatically, no matter how qualified you are.

Follow these tips to ensure your CV passes the ATS scan:

Use a Simple Layout – Avoid tables, columns, text boxes, images, and fancy fonts. Stick to a clean format with standard fonts like Arial or Calibri.

Include Relevant Keywords – Scan the job description and mirror the keywords used (e.g., “project management,” “customer service,” “data analysis”) naturally in your CV.

Use Standard Headings – Stick to traditional headings like Work Experience, Education, Skills, and Professional Summary. ATS software recognises these easily.

Avoid Graphics and Logos – ATS systems can’t read visuals. Text only is best.

Save as a Word Document (.doc or .docx) – Some older ATS platforms struggle with PDFs.

Use Bullet Points – Keep achievements clear and scannable. Each bullet point should focus on a result or skill.

Don’t Overuse Acronyms – Always spell out terms at least once: e.g., “Customer Relationship Management (CRM)”.

Creating an ATS-friendly CV boosts your chances of getting to the interview stage. Make your CV readable, relevant, and results-focused!
