WHY IS THE INTERVIEWER IS ASKING YOU THE QUESTION, WHY DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR JOB?
They are asking you this challenging interview question for 2 reasons.

REASON #1. If you are the type of person who goes from job to job without staying in a position for a lengthy period of time, the interviewer is less likely to hire you. Remember, it takes a lot of time and effort to hire the right person for a job, so they want to make sure they choose the right candidate.

REASON #2. If you give any type of negative reason for wanting to change your job, the interviewer could view this as a problem! My advice is to always steer clear of negative or contentious reasons for wanting to change your job.

Before I give you several scripted answers to the interview question, why do you want to change your job, let me tell you the reasons you should always avoid in your response!

NUMBER 1 – Never say you want to change your job because you are bored with your work, or you don’t find it challenging enough. If you are bored in your work then it’s up to you to be proactive and look for things to do that will help the company move forward.

NUMBER 2 – Never say you want to change your job because you don’t like the direction the company is heading. The interviewer could view this as you being someone who doesn’t support the management team and the direction they want to take the company.

NUMBER 3 – Never say you want to change your job because there is a toxic work environment. Whilst I fully appreciate some work environments are not healthy, do not give this as a reason for leaving because it can make the employer suspicious about how you are going to fit into their team.

NUMBER 4 – Never say you want to change your job because you didn’t get on with your boss. Whilst some bosses can be difficult to work for, you are better off giving different reasons for why you want to change your job.
