President Trump’s new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, was fired Friday, after less than a week on the job, according to three people familiar with the matter.

The people spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the decision, which was not yet announced. Neither the White House nor Ms. Zacharia responded to requests for comment. But Mr. Trump told reporters on Friday that he had encouraged Ms. Zacharia to “reconsider” the job.

Speaking at an international forum, Dar said the suspension carries serious consequences for South Asia, as tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours continue over the decades-old water-sharing agreement.
