NASA has unveiled the first phase of its plan to build a permanent base on the Moon, marking a major step in the Artemis programme. The US space agency will launch three lunar missions this year to test key technologies, including robotic landers, drones, and terrain vehicles.

Partner missions with Blue Origin and Astrobotic will carry scientific payloads and heavy cargo to the lunar surface, supporting navigation, exploration, and surface studies.

NASA is aiming for a human landing as early as 2028, with plans to establish a long-term lunar base and infrastructure, including a power grid, in the 2030s.

A gunman opened fire near the west perimeter of the White House while former President Trump was inside. The armed suspect fired multiple rounds at a security checkpoint before Secret Service quickly returned fire and neutralized him within seconds. The suspect was taken to George Washington Hospital, and a bystander was injured during the exchange. Authorities say the attacker was seen behaving erratically before the incident.
