Leaders of the BRICS nations met in Johannesburg this week to consolidate the bloc’s position and expand its influence.
More than 40 countries expressed an interest in joining the bloc, and nearly two dozen formally asked to be admitted of which 6 countries made it to the list.
India’s neighbour Bangladesh also made a bid to join the bloc but did not make the cut in the latest additions.
