A terrifying flash flood has swept through Nepal’s Gorkha region, sending powerful torrents of muddy water rushing through the area and damaging buildings along the Budhi Gandaki River.

The sudden surge has raised fresh concerns for communities living near the river, with authorities urging people in vulnerable areas to remain alert and follow safety advisories. The latest flooding comes after Nepal was hit by a devastating flood disaster in August, which reportedly killed more than 1,400 people and left thousands missing.

Iran claims it has tested a new domestically developed anti-ship missile against a U.S. Navy warship, with Iranian officials saying the weapon forced American vessels to retreat. The missile has reportedly been identified as the Qasem Basir, with a claimed range of 1,200 kilometres and a manoeuvrable warhead designed to challenge advanced missile defences. But what is known about Iran’s new missile, and how credible are Tehran’s claims about its impact on U.S. naval forces?
