Alia Shelesh was born in the United Kingdom and is of Greek and Turkish descent, but migrated to America with her family when she was 6 years old. The family ended up settling in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area of Arizona. She is the oldest of four children, having two brothers and a sister. Her interest in video games began at the age of 8 when her father gave her a PSOne as a gift in an attempt to keep her from fighting with her brothers. The first game she played was Metal Gear Solid.

After graduating from high school a semester early Shelesh enrolled in a local community college, but quickly transferred to a university when she found the community college teachers rude, and her male classmates annoying. She completed one year of pharmaceutical studies before switching her major to nursing, however, eventually she lost interest and decided to concentrate full time on a YouTube Career. She started her YouTube channel SSSniperwolf in late 2012. She now has over 21 million subscribers.
