Truth, Lies & Democracy 2024 – Opening

“Truth, Lies & Democracy is an activist game jam that aims to mobilise the European gaming community to combat fake news and defend democracy. 🕹️

The opening on May 17 will feature remarks from the organisers, a Keynote speech, and presentations of all the mentors and teams.

After that, three local and three international teams will participate in a 48-hour game jam from May 17 to 19 at the Canódromo —Ateneu de Innovación Digital y Democratica to create video games and interactive proposals addressing fake news. Renowned gaming, technology, politics, and communication professionals will provide talks and mentorship. 💡

The initiative plays a vital role in educating gamers about democratic decision-making, disinformation, deep fakes, privacy, and the societal impact of new technologies. By doing so, it equips them with the knowledge to combat fake news, a threat that undermines democracy by fostering mistrust and eroding trust in government. 👾
