4 JOB INTERVIEW TIPS FROM HIRING MANAGERS!

If you want to know how to pass a job interview, there is no better advice than listening to the people who actually make the hiring decisions. Hiring managers interview hundreds of candidates every year, and while qualifications and experience matter, they often say the same small number of things separate successful applicants from everyone else.

Here are four powerful job interview tips from hiring managers that will immediately increase your chances of getting hired.

TIP 1. Research the company beyond the basics.

One of the quickest ways to impress a hiring manager is to demonstrate genuine interest in their organisation. Most candidates spend just a few minutes looking at the company website. The best candidates dig much deeper.

Before your interview, learn about the company’s values, products, services, recent achievements, customers and future plans. If the interviewer asks, “Why do you want to work here?” your answer should prove you’ve done your homework.

For example, you could say:
“I’m attracted to this role because your organisation has an excellent reputation for innovation and customer service. After researching your recent projects and company values, I can see they align perfectly with how I like to work, and I’d be excited to contribute to your continued success.”

Hiring managers remember candidates who clearly understand their business because it shows commitment, professionalism and enthusiasm.

TIP 2. Back up every answer with evidence.

Many candidates make the mistake of simply saying they are hardworking, reliable or a good team player. Hiring managers hear these words every day.

Instead, prove your claims with real examples.

Whenever you’re asked a competency-based interview question such as *”Tell me about a time you solved a problem”* or *”Describe a difficult situation you handled,”* use a structured answer that explains the situation, what you did and the positive result you achieved.

Hiring managers aren’t interested in empty statements—they want evidence that you’ve already demonstrated the skills they’re looking for.

The more measurable your achievements are, the stronger your answers become.

TIP 3. Show how you will add value from day one.

Hiring managers don’t simply recruit people to fill vacancies—they recruit people who will make their organisation stronger.

Throughout your interview, focus on how your skills, experience and attitude will benefit the employer.

Talk confidently about improving processes, solving problems, delivering excellent customer service, supporting colleagues, increasing productivity or helping the team achieve its goals.

When employers can clearly picture you making a positive impact from your very first day, your chances of receiving a job offer increase significantly.

Always remember that interviews aren’t just about explaining what you’ve done—they’re about showing what you will do for them.

TIP 4. Finish by asking intelligent questions.

One of the biggest mistakes candidates make is saying, *”No, I don’t have any questions.”*

Hiring managers often judge your interest in the role by the questions you ask.

Instead, prepare two or three thoughtful questions in advance.

For example:
“What qualities do your highest-performing employees have?”
“What are the biggest priorities for the successful candidate during the first six months?”
“What would success look like in this role after the first year?”

Questions like these show you’re already thinking about how you can contribute and succeed within the organisation.

They also help create a positive final impression that can set you apart from equally qualified candidates.

HOW TO ANSWER THE TOP 10 HARDEST INTERVIEW QUESTIONS! (TIPS, EXPLANATIONS & PROVEN ANSWERS!)

HOW TO ANSWER THE TOP 10 HARDEST INTERVIEW QUESTIONS! (TIPS, EXPLANATIONS & PROVEN ANSWERS!) https://youtu.be/W2_08tLMmyI?si=ehGC2us11lQJDX1x #jobinterview #interview #interviewquestions #interviewpreparation #interviewtips

Q1. Tell me about yourself. 01:06
This is the most common opening interview question, but many candidates ramble or repeat their CV instead of delivering a concise, structured introduction. Your communication skills are being assessed, so keep your answer professional and to a maximum of 60 seconds.

I also recommend you talk about these 4 things:
• SKILLS
• EXPERIENCE
• ACHIEVEMENTS
• TYPE OF PERSON YOU ARE
Those 4 things stand for SEAT – S.E.A.T, and you can easily remember my SEAT structure for, tell me about yourself because you will be sitting down on a SEAT at your job interview.

Q2. Why should we hire you? 04:28
You need to explain the value you will bring to the company rather than simply saying you are hardworking or experienced. I recommend you say they should hire you for 3 reasons – not one.

Q3. Tell me about a time you failed or made a mistake. 07:08
Hiring managers are not looking for perfection – they want someone who is accountable, willing to learn and resilient when things go wrong. Do not say you have never failed or made a mistake. If you do, you will not get hired! Here’s the perfect answer and the script to write down.

Q4. How would you handle a conflict with a co-worker? 09:11
Hiring managers want to assess whether you are capable of resolving disagreements calmly and constructively.

Q5. What’s your biggest weakness? 11:00
Do not say you don’t have any weaknesses. We all have weaknesses. My weakness is that I am a very impatient person, but the positive is that I always get lots more work completed than the average person. Give a safe weakness and explain what you are doing to improve.

Q6. Why do you want to work for our company? 12:30
Generic answers about salary or location won’t score well in any interview. Employers want genuine motivation and evidence that you’ve researched them.
Good reasons to give for why you want to work for their company include:

• Their track record of success.
• Their core values, and…
• How they support their employees so they can reach their full potential.

Q7. Why do you want to leave your current job? 14:42
In some ways, this is a trick question – if you say anything negative about your employer, you won’t get hired because the interviewer will think it’s you who has the problem – be respectful, positive and professional.

Q8. Where do you see yourself in five years? 17:22
I know, from first-hand experience, it takes a lot of time and energy to find someone suitable for a job role – once they start work, you have to spend time training them. If a candidate gives any indication they will be working elsewhere in 5 years’ time, I will not hire them.

Q9. What are your salary expectations? 19:15
You must research the salary for the role you are applying for before the interview – use a website such as GlassDoor.com to find the going rate for the role and company. Before your interview, know exactly the salary you would like and ask and deliver your answer with confidence.

Q10. Do you have any questions? 20:05
This is a make-or-break question – Do not ask questions about salary, time off or perks of the job. Top-performing candidates ask intelligent questions about the role or company.
