Knowledge Sharing Initiative KSI 1 “Enhancing Classroom Management Skills for Effective Teaching”

This professional development session was delivered by Dr. Walid Shawky to the academic faculty of the Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS), Oman on Tuesday, September 3rd at 14:00 in the Seminar Room. The session aimed to equip faculty members with practical tools and strategies to enhance classroom management and improve overall teaching effectiveness.

Designed specifically for the MCBS Faculty, the session covered a range of essential classroom practices. These included setting and communicating clear classroom rules and expectations, selecting appropriate seating arrangements, and effectively balancing teacher talk time (TTT) and student talk time (STT) to maximize student engagement.

Participants also explored how to provide clear and concise instructions, design and implement engaging pair and group work activities, utilize elicitation techniques to encourage active participation, and deliver constructive feedback to support student learning.

By the end of the session, faculty members reflected on their own classroom practices and gained actionable strategies to foster a more organized, interactive, and learner-centered environment.
