A wildfire in British Columbia has prompted evacuation orders in Summerland as the Bald Range wildfire threatens the district municipality.

Eyewitness footage filmed on Friday, August 7, shows flames burning across a hillside and sending heavy smoke into the sky. The footage was verified using buildings, road layouts, utility lines and poles that matched archival and satellite imagery. The date and location were also confirmed through original file metadata.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the wildfire as emergency crews continue responding to the threat.
