The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched the GSLV-F17 rocket carrying the 2,367-kg EOS-05 Earth-imaging satellite from Sriharikota. About 18 minutes after liftoff, the satellite separated into a sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit, marking India’s first Earth observation satellite operating from geosynchronous orbit. ISRO chief V Narayanan confirmed the satellite’s health, as it prepares for orbit-raising maneuvers to reach its final 36,000 km altitude.

But what could complicate the situation is the 150 hostages taken by hamas. Gaza’s only power station has run out of fuel as the humanitarian crisis deepens.
