US President Donald Trump has announced that American forces have begun “major combat operations” in Iran, describing the strikes as “massive and ongoing” and aimed at eliminating “imminent threats.” Trump pledged “overwhelming strength and devastating force” as the conflict escalates.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strikes were targeting what he called an “existential threat,” with Israel earlier describing its action as “preventative.”

In retaliation, Iran launched what the IDF described as a “barrage of missiles,” triggering sirens across Israel. Explosions were reported in Tehran and other Iranian cities, and Iran has closed its airspace amid the attacks.

The escalation follows inconclusive US-Iran nuclear talks on Friday, with Trump saying he was “not happy” with the progress. Reports also suggest Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been moved to a secure location.
