US Warships Collide During Refueling Operation In Caribbean Waters | WION Originals

Two U.S. Navy vessels collided during a ship-to-ship refueling operation in waters under U.S. Southern Command. The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Truxtun and the fast combat support ship USNS Supply made contact during an underway replenishment. Two personnel sustained minor injuries and are in stable condition. Both ships remain operational.
The collision occurred amid a major U.S. naval buildup in the Caribbean, where 12 warships — including the USS Gerald R. Ford strike group — are deployed. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
Naval collisions are rare but historically serious. In 2017, two separate destroyer collisions in the Pacific killed 17 sailors and led to major leadership shakeups within the Navy. This latest incident comes as U.S. forces maintain heightened maritime operations in the region.
