If you are required to give a presentation during a job interview, watch this lesson – by the end of it, you will know exactly how to create and deliver the perfect presentation that will get you hired!
To help you deliver a brilliant presentation in a job interview, I will cover 4 things in this lesson:
1. I will quickly tell you the purpose of a job interview presentation and how you will be assessed.
2. I will give you 5 very important tips for creating and delivering the perfect interview presentation.
3. I will give you 10 great ideas for a job interview presentation.
4. I will give you a live demonstration of a presentation in a real job interview.
What is the purpose of a job interview presentation? 01:03
An interview presentation is designed to assess 2 things:
1. Your ability to create something interesting and engaging (the presentation).
2. Your communication skills. How you talk to others and whether you can keep the people listening to your presentation engaged.
That is why you must practice your presentation at least 2 times before the interview.
5 JOB INTERVIEW PRESENTATION TIPS! 01:50
TIP 1: Make the presentation more about their company than you. Even if you are giving a presentation introducing yourself, I strongly recommend you focus on how your skills and qualities will make a difference to their company in the role.
TIP 2: If you are using PowerPoint slides for your presentation, aim for 1 slide per 30 seconds. For example, if your presentation is a maximum of 5 minutes, use no more than 10 slides.
TIP 3: Make sure you make good eye contact throughout the presentation. This is important to showcase good communication skills. If there’s more than one person you are presenting to, look at all of them periodically throughout the presentation – later, in this video, I will show you how to use good eye contact.
TIP 4: Make sure you smile during your presentation and raise your voice slightly. Someone nervous will speak quietly when giving their presentation, but this demonstrates a lack of confidence. Don’t be afraid to raise your voice!
TIP 5: Add something interesting to your presentation:
• An interesting fact or impactful statement;
• An interesting story about yourself;
• An achievement you have attained.
• A life goal that you have.
An easy way to keep people engaged during a job interview presentation is to tell stories or share something intriguing and interesting.
