US-IRAN WAR LATEST | Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated after both sides reported attacks on vessels in waters near Iran.

The United States says it destroyed three Iranian oil tankers following attempted missile attacks on American naval vessels. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has responded by claiming that its naval forces targeted US-linked ships.

The latest clashes come amid an ongoing standoff over the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, with Iran maintaining control over the waterway while Washington continues its counter-blockade of Iranian ports.

US Central Command said the targeted tankers were linked to the IRGC and accused them of being part of a shadow network that allegedly funds the IRGC and its regional proxies.

CENTCOM released footage appearing to show large fireballs and flames after projectiles struck the vessels.

US officials have warned Iran that attacks on American naval assets would bring further economic consequences. Iran, meanwhile, has threatened a stronger response if US attacks continue.

The situation remains highly volatile as tensions around the Strait of Hormuz continue to escalate.
