Mount Etna Lava Lights Up Sicilian Sky | WION Shorts

Lava flowing from Mount Etna in Sicily lit up with red flashes the Sicilian night on Monday (June 29).

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) reported that lava gushed from an eruptive vent at an altitude of around 3,000 metres.

Mount Etna, located on Sicily’s east coast, is Europe’s largest volcano. Its activity, according to the Civil Protection Department, is typically characterised by episodic eruptions, lava flows and ash emissions.
