Flash floods triggered by heavy rains kill at least 22 people in India In the Central state of Madhya Pradesh 70,000 people were left homeless. Flood waters rose to dangerous levels along parts of Narmada, the longest river in the province. Forecasters predict more downpour in the coming days.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe orders a new round of Fiscal stimulus spending after a crushing election victory. The package is likely to help overcome a consistently weak corporate investment

6. Sharapova to miss Rio Olympics
Maria Sharapova will miss the Rio Olympics as her doping appeal was postponed until September. The Russian player was given a two- year suspension in June after testing positive for a banned substance. Sharapova had admitted violation of anti-doping rules but asked for a hearing before and independent tribunal.
