Two massive tragedies have sent shockwaves across South Asia. In northern Nepal, a catastrophic flash flood—dubbed a ‘Chinese Tsunami’ after a sudden landslide breached the Tibet border—has left at least 95 people dead and nearly 400 missing, including dozens of Indian tourists and pilgrims. Entire villages, bridges, and hydropower facilities along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers have been wiped out as multi-agency rescue teams race against time.

Meanwhile, in Islamabad, Pakistan, a horrific fire triggered by an AC explosion swept through the neonatal nursery of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), tragically claiming the lives of 14 newborns.

Astronomers using NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope have identified a bizarre object in the early universe that may represent an entirely new type of astrophysical source. Dubbed a “black hole star,” the extremely bright red object appears roughly the size of our solar system but produces an extraordinary amount of energy—far beyond what a normal star can generate. Scientists believe it could be a massive black hole surrounded by an enormous envelope of gas, creating a star-like appearance. The central black hole may be around 100,000 times the mass of the Sun. If confirmed, the discovery could also help explain the mysterious “little red dots” repeatedly detected by JWST.

Astronauts leaving Earth’s orbit for a journey toward Mars would mark a major milestone in human space exploration, bringing humanity closer to the possibility of crewed missions to the Red Planet. Such a mission would involve advanced spacecraft, complex navigation, and extensive preparation to protect astronauts during deep-space travel. Scientists and space agencies continue to develop technologies needed for future Mars missions, including life-support systems, radiation protection, and long-duration spaceflight capabilities.
