   This is why the preservative needs to not be 17th in the ingredient list when using so many oils and starches. Especially when you know the product is typically being used by people who aren't being as stringent as MUAs about how they are used and where they're kept. It's a set up for failure

   I have eyeshadow pallet which has the icon at the back says 24 months since opened
   But it has been roughly 10 months and my one of the favorite colours for which I purchased is now mounded 😔

    As a Sun Gemini / Moon Leo : Oh god I ‘ve never seen that before and I have eyeshadow palettes that are 15 years old ! Ain’t planning on throwing them away unless they had a problem: it’s like powder eyeshadows can be kept for life or decades.

    I know Melt has their explanation, and yes, every formula is rigorously tested before going to market, but that doesn't mean that every single batch is tested once production begins. There could be supply chain issues that means that an ingredient got contaminated. It happens with food all the time. That's why companies do recalls. I really respect companies that just do voluntary recalls and refund money when there's an issue. Not blame the customer for using a "dirty brush" or take a gamble on "binder issues" without actually lab testing a sample. Eyes are fragile.

    This happened to my Gemini palette. I hate the Gemini palette because the shimmers were lackluster and I found it very hard to blend. I’ve had it for about two years now and the mattes are also starting to puff up. It’s not worth it at all in my opinion.

    if we clean it will alcohol, will the mold fungus go.? I mean will be safe to use the palette. Or should I throw it away for better? Please help

    Mine did the same thing. No mold but the shimmers are unusable and have gotten into the mattes and ruined the finish. I will never buy another thing from Melt. I love their aesthetic and color stories, but lots of indie brands have come out with color dupes now. I may be in the minority but I don't think lipsticks have gone bad when they have that crayon smell. It just means the perfume that was put in the lipstick is faded and you are smelling what the lipstick smells like without it..It's just wax and pigment and a few oils to make it comfortable. The oils could go rancid though, so if you smell a rancid grease smell then that would be time to chuck it…

    Some people wet shadow to make it more vibrant..
    You guys may live in a damp climate or you could

    So if you have unopened products..how long will they be good for if they're unused/un swatched ? Does the "good after opened" date start once you physically touch the product (skin oil transfer) or simply opening the product without touching it? Thanks !

    One of the first ingredients I found in their eyeshadows is lauroyl lysine aka coconut oil. Which is known to mold.

    Oh my word I just received my ordered for Sephora of both the Gemini and smoke sessions palettes! I haven’t opened them yet, I guess it’s a good thing! Looks like their going back!!

    I have had my eyeshadows for years and they are fine. I regularily inspect them for mold, smell, if they feel/perform the same, etc. If anything is "off"…in the trash they go! Just be careful and sanitary and you'll be fine.

    I mean the heat from the lamp could've melted the oils so they went from white to dark because they wet the shadow itself. You could've put some more heat on it from a hairdryer or something to see if it melts some more. The name of the company sounds funny now

    I am just wondering if anyone experienced similar issues with their second generation Melt palettes. I am hoping Melt fixed the puffing/discoloration issues with the new releases.
    I’m keeping an eye on my Gemini palette that I’ve purchased around January/February this year (2020), but so far it looks good (knock on wood). I am, however, a bit nervous that one day it will start sprouting something strange. Lol

    Y’all don’t try to sanitize this and use it again. Palettes like these are expensive and you’d look pretty but if you risk it then you won’t be for long lol also stay safe !
